This book takes what can be a complex subject and makes it understandable. It is easy to read and has a great glossary. It effectively ties in Greek and Egyptian histories that is so easy to grasp. I have read multitudes of books regarding the three divisions of the soul but they have always been written in language and terms difficult/impossible to comprehend-this books solves that problem. There are many, under different names, "Bible" stories except these "myths" were written long before the Bible was even thought of-certainly food for thought. The old stories were great-the Egyptian time line was so easy to understand-well written! One can draw their own conclusions as to the similarities of RA and the God of the New Testament; Set and the god of the Old Testament. There is much to review and ponder here-GREAT work. So easy to read and comprehend.
Tales of Ancient Egypt by Roger Lancelyn Green includes several stories from the beginning to the end of ancient Egypt, told in a way that is easy for children to understand. The book is split into three sections: Tales of the Gods, Tales of Magic, and Tales of Adventure. At the end there is a Time Chart with the stories listed in the time period they are from. I definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in or studying ancient Egypt.

While I personally found the book to be incredibly interesting, my 5th grade daughter did not. I am a history buff so it held my attention while we read it for a homeschool unit on Ancient Egypt. Her attention wandered though. The book is well written and filled with history but it may be too in depth of a topic for some kids. To break it up a bit, we combined it with other activities and books that she was more interested in.With that said, it did what I intended it to do. She learned and as a homeschool mom, I can't ask for much more than that.
This book is definitely aimed towards children in the way its written. But I got a ton of enjoyment out of it even as an adult. The stories are unique in the context of ancient civilizations, the Egyptians definitely viewed things a bit differently than just about anyone else. After reading this I grabbed a couple of the other Puffin compilation books, Norse myths and Greek myths, I'm looking forward to reading those as well :).
This book really can be read by anyone I felt as if I were in the stories and not just imagining them You really get to go in the adventures as the gods and there subjects. Truly enjoyable read to start the year
Get ready for some great adventure and romance that bring ancient Egypt to life! I thoroughly enjoyed all of these stories that combine Egyptian mythology with folklore and superb story telling.
great little collection of tales. Beautifully done. I enjoyed them and my 9 year old granddaughter enjoyed them, too. Amazing how some are identical to Jewish tales of King Solomon! This book is my favorite so far in my collection of Egyptian myth books.
